About

Qatari photographer subjects through the language of photographic modernist. Adopting an honest realism, she seeks out form and color in familiar objects, and there potential for abstraction on the picture plane. This allows her to select and communicate unequivocal

visible truths about the world.

Manar’s approach echoes the “New Objectivity”of 1920s German photography and Renger-Patzch’s collection of the images (‘THE  WORLD IS BEAUTIFUL’). The influence of the straight photography of the Düsseldorfer School is also evident, such as Candida Höfer’s interiors and Axel Hütte’s nature studies. Manar applies these techniques to both high-tech Germany and its heritage, recording old and new with a consistently authentic photographic eye.
